New Product Launch: YF-E3M Clamp-On Ultrasonic Energy Meter

We are pleased to announce the launch of the YF-E3M Clamp-On Ultrasonic Energy Meter, a non-invasive solution for measuring cooling and heating energy consumption in central air conditioning, HVAC and industrial process systems.

The YF-E3M clamps onto the outside of existing pipework — no cutting, no shutdown, no pressure loss — and delivers accurate flow and energy measurement for pipe sizes from DN6 to DN100 (OD 9.53mm to 110mm). It is designed for facility managers, energy auditors and building automation professionals who need reliable energy data without interrupting operations.

Key Features

  • Clamp-on installation: Attaches to the outside of the pipe with a magnetic bracket system — no pipe cutting, no process interruption, no pressure loss
  • Dual measurement: Simultaneously measures flow rate and energy (cooling/heating) using ultrasonic time-of-flight and PT1000 temperature sensors
  • Wide pipe range: DN6–DN100 (OD 9.53–110mm), covering steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, PP, PPR, PVDF and other common pipe materials
  • OLED display: 1.3-inch 128×64 OLED screen with 180° rotation for easy reading in any mounting position
  • Multiple outputs: 4–20mA analog, RS485 with Modbus RTU protocol, optional OCT relay alarm output
  • IP54/IP65 rated: Suitable for indoor and outdoor installation environments
  • Data logging: Stores 10 years, 64 months and 64 days of measurement data

How It Works

The YF-E3M uses ultrasonic transit-time measurement: a pair of transducers sends ultrasonic pulses through the pipe wall and the flowing medium. The time difference between upstream and downstream pulses is proportional to the flow velocity. Combined with the pipe cross-sectional area, this gives volumetric flow rate.

For energy measurement, two PT1000 temperature sensors are installed on the inlet and outlet pipes. The energy meter calculates the thermal energy by multiplying the flow rate by the temperature difference and the specific heat capacity of the medium. This makes it ideal for chilled water, hot water and other heat-transfer fluids used in HVAC and industrial processes.

Applications

The YF-E3M is designed for energy measurement and management in:

  • Central air conditioning systems: Measure and allocate cooling/heating costs across tenants or zones
  • Heating systems: District heating monitoring and billing
  • Power plants: Cooling water and process heat monitoring
  • Paper and pulping: Process fluid energy measurement
  • Pharmaceuticals: Clean utility energy tracking
  • Petroleum and chemical: Heat transfer fluid monitoring
  • Metallurgy and mining: Cooling circuit energy management

Measurable Media

The YF-E3M works with single-phase liquids free of bubbles and significant impurities, including tap water, pure water, ultrapure water, various acids, alkalis, organic liquids, chemical solvents, alcohol and beverage water. User-validated media include sodium chlorate, dilute sulfuric acid, hydrocarbon, alcohol, sodium carbonate, ethylenediamine, propylene oxide and more.

Easy Installation

The YF-E3M is designed for installation without specialized knowledge. The magnetic bracket system holds the sensor in place while screws are tightened, and the complete process takes minutes:

  1. Clean the pipe surface
  2. Attach the bracket with 4 screws (magnetic design prevents screws from falling)
  3. Fix the measuring unit with 2 screws
  4. Connect the cable and power on
  5. Enter pipe parameters via the touch-key menu

No moving parts, no pressure loss, no production shutdown. The product is factory-calibrated to ±2.0% nominal accuracy and includes a zero-point calibration function for field verification.

Ordering Information

The YF-E3M is available in multiple models covering pipe sizes from DN6 (OD 9.53mm) to DN100 (OD 110mm). Standard cable length is 2m, extendable to 20m. Optional accessories include external power converters for 220VAC operation and extended temperature sensors.
