On a chemical dosing skid the fluid is often aggressive, the pipe is small, and nobody wants to open the line. That combination rules out many meter types. A non-contact chemical dosing flow meter measures through the pipe wall, so the fluid never touches a sensor. The YF-C3 compact clamp-on flow meter is built for these lines, with a PTFE-coated anti-corrosion housing option and the signals a dosing control system expects.
Why Non-Contact Fits Corrosive Applications
- Nothing is wetted. Acids, alkalis, solvents and salt solutions never contact the transducers, so there is no corrosion path and no material-compatibility risk in the meter itself.
- No containment break. Metering externally removes the risk of leaks and exposure during both installation and service.
- No pressure drop and no moving parts to seize on crystallising or viscous additives.
PTFE-Coated Housing for Aggressive Environments
Dosing areas expose electronics to splashes and corrosive atmospheres even when the sensor sits outside the pipe. The YF-C3 is offered with a PTFE-coated anti-corrosion housing alongside the standard aluminium-alloy body, protecting the compact enclosure in chemical plants and plating shops. Standard 70 °C and high-temperature 120 °C transducer options extend the same protection to hot dosing and CIP-adjacent lines.
Signals for Dosing Control
A dosing skid needs to feed a PLC or DCS. The YF-C3 provides:
- 4–20 mA analog output proportional to instantaneous flow (600 Ω maximum load);
- RS485 with Modbus RTU for rate, velocity and totalizer data;
- OCT pulse/alarm output for batching totalization or flow-rate alarms.
- Acid and caustic dosing in water treatment
- Coagulant and biocide injection
- Plating and surface-treatment chemical feed
- Additive and catalyst dosing in process skids
- DI water and cleaning-chemical monitoring
With a 500 ms response and 0.8% repeatability it suits additive verification, proportioning and consumption monitoring on lines from OD 9–277 mm (roughly DN6–DN100+).
